Weekend Recap

CrossFit Winston Salem – - -CWOK, this weekend was a bit off.  Friday night we stayed in, had pizza and watched The Pacific.  I actually got to bed early.  There really wasn’t much going on.  I did do a post on Crossfit if anyone is interested.

Saturday was National Trail Day and we were running a 5k.  We took our time and it was GREAT!  Then I came home to do some things around the house, made Key Lime Pie and mini apple pies before we headed out to dinner at our good friends’ house.

Sunday was truly a SLOTH day in that I didn’t even write a post.  We did go to the movies (more later) had dinner (blech!) and watched Game of Thrones.

Ok, the weekend went off the rails somewhere between Friday night and Saturday morning.  I woke up in the middle of the night with muscles spasms in my shoulder (related to arthritis in my neck).  The race was fine and then it got really bad Saturday night. After two rounds of Aleve and muscle relaxers, I finally managed to sleep and rolled out of bed around 11am Sunday morning.  Ooops.  No more meds, some stretching and foam rolling and things seem to be better.

Today I plan to take a walk/run around the neighborhood, and then Crossfit tonight.  The boxjumps and burpees might kill me, but I will try.

Sloth Sunday…

someecards.com - You've really got a knack for being boredI am already bored.  Just not enough on my to-do list right now.  I need a project.

Later will be fun.  A friend coming for dinner and Game of Thrones. I am doing a FAJITA BAR, in honor of Cinco De Mayo.  But what to do until then?

Yesterday, I was bored and ended up eating ALL day.  It was ridiculous.  I did manage 4 miles on the elliptical at the gym.

I could do the windows, the floors, some laundry, etc.  But then what would I do tomorrow?

Sloth Sunday

Costco WholesaleSloth Sunday is going to include a trip to my favorite place…..COSTCO!  And we might even check out the brand new Whole Foods that just opened a few days ago.

I still need to finish up those cookies from Friday night.  The dough can stay in the fridge for two days.  But now I need to portion it out and freeze it.  And I want to make Oatmeal Peanut Butter cookies.  But those are just for me.  Hehehehe.

Game of Thrones is on tonight and I am making Chicken Tortilla Soup.  I need to check the recipe and make sure I have everything I need.

Yesterdays long run was cut short.  I did 3 miles at the gym and another 3 miles with the dogs.  Back on track tomorrow.

Weekend Recap

imageThanks to everyone for responding this weekend!  On weekend plans, race plans, etc.  It was great to read what everyone is up to.

My weekend was exactly what I thought it would be.  I did get around to making some AMAZING Peanut Butter Snickerdoodle cookies on Friday.  I only baked a few of them, as a taste test.  And the rest of the dough went into the freezer for later use.

Saturday’s long run of 6 miles went VERY well.   I went back to the park where I did a lot of my training for Las Vegas.  And then I managed to get through all of my errands.  Including the decisions, which you can see in the picture.  Sorry it is such a bad picture.

Sloth Sunday was a day of working around the house.  I cooked a easter-ish meal of roast beef.  And then we went to the movies.  And a friend came over to watch Game of Thrones.

Who else is watching?  And where can I get a direwolf of my own?

Movie Review Monday: Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones (TV Series 2011) - IMDbWinter is Coming.

Ok, the last actual movie I saw was The Hunger Games. And who hasn’t heard about that by now?  So I decided to talk about Game of Thrones.

From IMDB: Seven noble families fight for control of the mythical land of Westeros. Political and sexual intrigue is pervasive. The dominant families are the Houses Stark, Lannister, and Baratheon. Robert Baratheon, King of Westeros, asks his old friend Eddard, Lord Stark, to serve as Hand of the King, or highest official. Secretly warned that the previous Hand was assassinated, Eddard accepts in order to investigate further. Meanwhile the Queen’s family, the Lannisters, may be hatching a plot to take power. Across the sea, the last members of the previous and deposed ruling family, the Targaryens, are also scheming to regain the throne. The friction between these clans, and with the remaining great Houses Greyjoy, Tully, Arryn, and Tyrell, leads to full-scale war. All while a very ancient evil awakens in the farthest North. Amidst the war and political confusion, a neglected military order of misfits, the Night’s Watch, is all that stands between the realms of men and icy horrors beyond. Written by Tfilm78 and Cajunman

I had wanted to watch Game of Thrones from the beginning.  But missed the beginning and couldn’t seem to jump in in the middle. Duh.  Once I saw the beginning, I understood why it was so hard to jump into the middle.  You have to get the family relations straight from the beginning.

We watched 8 episodes (had already seen the first two) of Game of Thrones yesterday to try and get caught up for the season premiere last night. OMG!  I can’t remember any show or series that I could sit and watch for 8 straight (almost straight) hours.  Well, I can think of one.  Band of Brothers.  Which I already reviewed.  And then we watched the Season 2 premiere tonight.

Game of Thrones is amazing.  Family, intrigue, power, kings, wars, mystery and scandal.  What more could you ask for in a show.  It will be curious to see if they can avoid the Season 2 slump (a la Lost).   HBO has definitely found a new viewer and something to fill the space that Big Love left empty.

Gummy Rating:  4 Gummies.  I can’t give it 5 until I see where Season 2 goes.
