Driving Rant…

Rear Hatch
This is my rant for today.  You may not like it, or think it is nice, but I don’t really give shit (you can tell because I used a bad word). It is mostly aimed at older people, but anyone that chooses to get behind the wheel of a car should listen up.

If the speed limit FEELS too fast for you, FEEL free to stay home. If you can’t MUSTER THE COURAGE to go even only as fast as is printed on those pesky little signs, then maybe it is time to hang up the keys.  I don’t expect everyone to go speeding along like I do, but I was just stuck behind a much older person doing 33 in a 45.  That is NOT EVEN CLOSE.  So, if you can’t push down just a little harder on that gas pedal and get your little pony moving up to the speed limit, stay off the big roads.

And by big roads, I mean anything with at least one lane going in each direction.

And while we are at it, those little lines that someone took A LOT OF TROUBLE to paint on the road are NOT a suggestion.  I am reclaiming my side of the road so you might want to be more careful about staying on your own side.

And the last thing…last time I bought a car….the last TWO times I bought a car, the blinkers were included.  Not some fancy extra like GPS or rubber floor mats or satellite radio.  They come with the car.  USE THEM.

Featured Product: Zensha Compression Sleeves

I bought these at the race Expo in Las Vegas last year (RocknRoll Half Marathon with a PR of 2:36:21, this year I break 2:30:00).  You see elite runners and triathletes wearing them, both leg socks and arm warmers.  I was AMAZED to see one elite woman speed through the Kona Ironman transition area after the swim and come out on the bike with her compression socks on.  How did she get them on that fast?  While she was damp???

They are supposed to speed muscle recovery after a hard workout.  And I figured, can’t hurt.  Plus they are PINK!  I do think they help after my training sessions and long weekend runs.  I find that my legs feel less tired and less sore the next day.  I also have one thigh sleeve that I used to help with a sore hamstring.

Race expo’s are a great place to find them or Amazon or the Zensha site.  Pick your favorite color and measure for sizing.   I also choose this particular product over CEP because they are sleeves instead of full socks, and I can still wear my normal socks and shoes.  I find that to be a huge plus.  But have heard nothing but good things about CEP as well.

Regarding: OUCH!

I am sitting here, in the semi-dark, waiting for the sun to come up.  With my coffee in my Grumpy mug (handle is hanging in there, thanks for asking) and wondering why Michael had to come through the dark bedroom, swinging a plastic grocery bag around?  I know it is trash day.  And he was gathering up the trash.  But couldn’t it have been done after he showered and I was out of the room?  Please?

The OUCH is from torture trainer Victor.  As I reported yesterday, he beat on my legs.  And had me doing a calf machine that I hadn’t tried yet.  I could tell at the time it was going to be bad.  But honestly, they are SCREAMING at me.   I am trying to slowly stretch them as I sit here.  But my 3 mile run is going to become a 3 mile hobble around the neighborhood this morning.

The best thing I can say is that I get to rock my pink Zensha compression sleeves! That will be our featured product later.  Stay tuned! (They make my calves look huge.  Its all about camera angle).

Oh, and the baseball game last night was exciting, even for Single A Marlins ball.  The Grasshoppers came back from a 7-2 deficit to win 10-7 and have kept their playoff hopes alive. And there were fireworks!

Future Kong Testers

I bought the dogs new toys yesterday.  I found a Kong that squeaks and figured, Kong’s are pretty indestructible.  So why not give it a try?  There was a red stick (seen here).  And a green bone (seen here).

They were SO happy to see new toys.  Who wouldn’t be.  It lasted less than an hour.

First, the stick was the one everyone wanted.  Then Annabelle took over the bone, so of course Solo wanted that as well.  And within 45 minutes, the green bone squeaked no more.

After that, Solo was very territorial about the stick and wouldn’t let Annabelle play with it.  And kept taking it away from her.  So now, I am hiding the stick to eliminate any issues.

I should submit some of the photo’s and stories to the Kong Company and see if we can get these two set up as toy testers!!!!

Regarding: Kittens and Kiwanian’s…

Tonight is volunteer night for me at PetsMart.  I hear we have a few new kittens so I am looking forward to meeting them.  It is also baseball night at the Greensboro Grasshoppers with Michaels’ Kiwanis Club. So I will get there late (save me a hot dog), after I do the cats at PetsMart.

Today was a bit dull.  I tried to use a Groupon at GNC (no luck yet), bought some new dogs toys (lasted about an hour and now have been taken away).  And had my weekly session with Victor, my torture personal trainer.  He beat on my legs for an hour and it was GREAT.  Any excuse to wear my pink compression socks.

I had some PB Toast (no pic needed)

a huge salad with chicken and ranch dressing for lunch and a few crackers on the side ( I am still staring at the nectarine, snack for later)

and my awesome snack mix

I also eat about a pound of baby carrots a day.  No exaggeration.  No telling what dinner will be really.  Whatever is left at the baseball game when I get there.  I will have to think of something more exciting to post tomorrow.
