Friday: Same Hills, Different Day

Friday was a quiet day.  A non-running day. I did the same 6 hilly miles on my bike from Wednesday.  My speed and control are definitely improving!  And it was plank time trial day as well (Carrots n Cake 4 Week Plank Challenge).  I beat my Monday time (1:45) by 15 seconds (2:00).

Food today was a protein bar, coffee, a turkey burger and veggie straws, some snack mix, red wine and Michael’s spaghetti with one garlic stick.

I did my Costco and Sam’s errands.  I was initially excited to see Sam’s carrying my GNC Vita-Packs again, only to realize they were the wrong ones.  After I bought them.  I used to take (And like) Active. These were Energy.  So they will go back to the store.  I see other people talking about what they get at the warehouse stores.  So here you go:

Sams: Chicken Sausages, Caribou KCups, Stauffers Animal Crackers

Costco: Baby Carrots (2 5lb bags), Half and Half, Muffins (Apple and Pumpkin), Propel, Almonds, Cashews, Shrimp, Dog Toys

I thought the Honeycrisp Apples were OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive, especially when I know they are on sale at the grocery store this week.  And because I am a big sucker, I had to buy Annabelle more Do-Do Birds.  I have never seen so much doggie-joy from something so small (and cheap).  I will stockpile the new ones away for a rainy day.

Any big weekend plans?  I have an 8-mile run, a Halloween party and not much else!

Tuesday: Shame and Work

20121009-190545.jpgToday, I submitted Annabelle to Dog Shaming.  If you haven’t checked them out, please do.  SO Funny.  I don’t know if she will get picked, but she should.  The picture would have been better if I had gotten her with the empty pan and spatula.

Today was a non-running day.  I rode my bike and then did something I have been trying to do each day.  It consists of: 50 jumping jacks, 5 pushups, 20 crunches, 20 mountain climbers, 30 second plank.  It is harder than it sounds.

Bike: 5.5 miles.  Above mentioned workout.

Meals are still in a rut and it is starting to show with some snacking.  That ends now.  Breakfast was coffee and a protein bar.  Lunch was egg beaters, turkey sausage and an english muffin.  There was a peach and an apple.  That peach was one of the BEST I have had in a long time.  Then there was too much snack mix.  And I transitioned to dinner with a Bertolli Risotto bag (added extra shrimp) and some wine.

I work from home full-time.  From time to time, the dog will pitch a fit while I am on the phone.  But there are these things called a MUTE button, and a backyard.  People need to learn that a home office is not a substitute for daycare.  Teach your kids to stay out of the office if they are at home.  The rest of your colleagues don’t want to hear you parenting on conference calls.  It is still WORK.  Let’s try to be professional.

I don’t know if I have mentioned it here (lately) but I just switched roles with my current employer.  I have been going through a bit of a hard time with work in the past 1-2 years.  Just not happy or finding any satisfaction with it.  In fact, this blog started as an outlet for some of the things I wasn’t getting from work.  And as a way to explore a potential new area of study (web design).  Well, my old boss (whom I loved) had an open position on his team and I took it.  It isn’t the best department to be in, but the people will make it all worthwhile.  And, I am taking a leap into managing people.  Just a few at first, to see how I do.  But it is something I have never tried to do before.  Should be interesting.

Friday: Dogs on Crack

I actually let myself get an extra 45 minutes sleep.  It was GREAT.  And then I did the Lolo Jones Core Workout from RW.  It felt like it could do some good!  And that was the extent of my workout.

I am on the fence about Long Run Saturday.  My longest run in quite a while is 6m.  But I am wanting to do at least 8 and hoping for 10.  Is that too much?  The half marathon is in 2 weeks and I feel that I could get through the 13 miles IF I can get through the 10.

Breakfast was overnight oats with crunchy peanut butter and chocolate chips.  A winner!

Lunch was a salad buffet with my mom.

There were snacks of a nectarine, carrots, and an apple.

Dinner was egg beaters with salsa, turkey sausage and pancakes.  Hey, I was carb loading for those 10 miles.  And I had some snack mix.

I don’t have pictures of any of it.

What I do have is the pictures you see.  Those are two large dogs, begging for doggie crack.  Otherwise knows as animal crackers.  Cheaper (and smaller) than Milk Bones.

North Carolina Zip Line Kersey Valley Zip Line Aerial Tours High Point NCWe won’t be doing much later, but this morning I am doing THIS!  Zipline at Kersey Valley.  I can’t wait.  A friend and I had been talking about how cool it would be to do and then there was a Groupon, and a birthday.  So here we go!

Later we will swing over to the in-laws for a visit.

And then home to protect Annabelle the dog from the evil fireworks.  Typically she would be at the kennel for the 4th (and us in Vegas) but not this year with the impending move. And the neighborhood lights off fireworks.  So Annabelle will be FREAKING out.

Regarding: Safety


This s what the big, bad, doberman looks like during a thunderstorm. She was hiding in the bathroom.  Her safe place.   Poor girl.

Storms came through last night but we only got a piece of it. West of us was much worse.

Another headache today. I believe it is allergies/sinus related. Yesterdays did clear up. Today will as well.

I need to get motivated today.  I am scheduled to play tennis later but there is a chance of a rain-out.  So a run would be good.  I also have a meeting and a presentation to do.  And cleaning.
