Monthly Archives: December 2011
We finally made it through the 2nd round of Christmas with my in-laws. I am not going to lie and say it was a happy time. They are not always the easiest people to be around. But we did the best we could and tried to be festive.
This year’s in-law Christmas, for me, had a theme. This is based on some years where things went more than a little off track. So a theme actually worked well. For whatever random reason, I have found that I like watching and feeding the birds in my backyard. So the theme was birds. And Michael was the supervisor of the theme to be sure things didn’t deteriorate into bird statues and decorations. He did a FANTASTIC job.
I can’t wait to put my new feeder in the backyard (and fill the others).
Later today is packet pickup for our Run Under the Lights at midnight (think running 5.5K through a drive-thru Christmas light display). And we are going to hit the mall for some after Christmas Sale shopping (Teavana, Charming Charlies and the traditional calendar selection).
What are your New Years Plans?
My mood could be described as middle of the road. My visit with my family is coming to an end and that is always a bit sad. But going home feels nice as well. I am looking forward to seeing my husband, dogs and cats. And that we have a fun New Year’s Eve race with friends! And then a nice long weekend to recover.
Fitness: Is the easier of the two to cover. I did 3 miles this morning. I walked the first half and ran the second. Which actually puts me at 18 miles since I have been in Arizona. Not too shabby.
Food: Breakfast was coffee and pumpkin bread. Lunch was an egg scramble, potatoes and an english muffin. Dinner was two soft steak taco’s from Chipotle. There was a Bud Light and some Chex Mix in there somewhere.
Hockey tomorrow night on the way home. We are NO longer in last place!!!
Breakfast: Coffee, vitamins, and cream of wheat. Then I had an egg sandwich before heading out for shopping and tea.Lunch was afternoon tea at the Phoenician. There was Earl Grey Tea, egg and chicken salad sandwiches, buttermilk and cranberry scones and a sampling of dessert. And who knew that Devonshire cream and strawberry preserves were so good?
I feel like I have been out of touch. I have been in Phoenix, celebrating the holidays with my family.
This morning, I dropped Michael off at the airport (I am staying a couple of extra days) and met up with my sister for a run.
This is Tempe Town Lake. We ran once around the lake (also home to Ironman Arizona) and then I decided the car looked good after 5 miles while my sister got in one more mile.
Then it was back to the house to get cleaned up before shopping at Fashion Square and Waterfrong. And then afternoon tea at the Phoenician! I didn’t buy anything but the tea was wonderful. With little sandwiches, scones and dessert.
WIAW (Tuesday) should be interesting to explain since I don’t have pictures of anything but tea!
How did you spend your holiday?
