Wednesday: Hills of Noodles

Today was a day that I didn’t really want to head out and do anything.  But eventually I climbed into some non-pj’s and onto my bike.  I told myself I would just be casual about it.  Then I managed to find the hilliest 6 mile route in my area!  It was fun.

Bike:  6 miles / 30:45

Today was date night.  I am not a fan of the idea of dating my own husband.  Isn’t part of the point of getting married that you don’t have to date anymore? I don’t like the pressure.  Anyway, he left work early and wanted to try a new (every place is new to us) place called the China Blossom Noodle Cafe.

It was incredible.  The waitress looked at Michael like he was crazy when he ordered a soup and Pad Thai.  Yes, I am not the only one that thinks soup is a meal!  I had the potstickers and the Korean Spicy Beef.  And a little of Michael’s soup.  It was cheap considering we had 2 beers, 2 appetizers and basically 3 entrees.  We will definitely go back.

Are you watching the baseball?  We moved on to something else in the 5th inning.  I don’t really care who wins, but I don’t need to watch a blowout.

Thursday: Veeps and Birds

As I type this, the O’s and Yanks are in the 12th.  Let’s Go Birds!!!!!

Today was a “rest” day.  And I really did nothing today.  Well, I took the dogs to daycare, dealt with the handyman fixing the toilets and the sprinklers, met my sister for lunch, saw her office (nice view!), picked the dogs up from daycare, finished the laundry and made dinner.  So yea, I did nothing.

I didn’t eat breakfast.  Had french toast for lunch.  A peach.  And chicken with a potato and broccoli for dinner.  And a dum dum.  I think it was mango.

We caught a few minutes here and there of the VP debate.  I enjoy Biden.  Always have.  You never know what is going to fly out of his mouth and yet he is incredibly smart and can be articulate.  Ryan, I just can’t take him seriously.

And the A’s need another miraculous ending tonight.  PLEASE.

Since we are doing a trail run on Saturday, I am attempting my Long Run on Saturday.  Be thinking of me and send good vibes as you read this.

Long Run Saturday: Leftovers and Lockouts

Long Run Saturday was 5 miles and it felt GREAT.  Isn’t it amazing how runs can be so different.  Thursday, nothing felt good and I struggled through 3 miles.  Today, it felt great.  I wasn’t bored. It seemed to fly by.  Even the hills didn’t feel that bad.  I don’t know why but I will take it and say thank you.

Run: 5.0 miles / 58:40

As a reward for doing 5 (instead of 4), I ate an apple muffin with my coffee.

It was Bountiful Basket pickup day.  This is only HALF of what we received.  For $15.  The other half included broccoli, carrots, potatoes, radishes, peppers, etc.  So I had an apple and then we went out to run errands.  I managed to down 48 oz of cold water in under an hour.  Not the brightest idea to do that and then try to run errands.

Lunch was leftover flank steak, sweet potato and corn around 1:30  And then some carrots.

Dinner was a toss up.  To eat at the ballpark or take something with me?  Yes, you can bring your own food into the ballpark.  But then I remembered the taco’s I had there back in June.  Taco’s it is!!!  Really I was just too lazy to fix something at home.  But even when I got there, I ended up with an Italian Sausage and a very large beer.

The night was capped off by the NHL locking out the players for the upcoming season.  Or until they can come to a deal.  The last lockout, the players gave the owners a salary cap in return for 57% of the revenue.  Now, the owners want some of the revenue back since the league is making more money.  GREEDY BASTARDS.  Maybe if they gave some on the salary cap.  But why should the players give back what the owners gave them the last time?  Gary Bettman needs to be fired.  I was looking forward to my first Coyotes season.

How was your Saturday?

Wednesday: The New 3

Ryan Hall Not Running, Considering Getting a Coach | NewswireHow could I resist?  You can read my personal thoughts on Ryan hall here.  And the full article here.

Last night we BEAT LA!  We had tickets to the Dbacks v Dodgers game (thanks Mom and Dad!) and it was quite the pitchers dual.  Dbacks came out on top 1-0.

This morning was a brisk 4 mile run. It felt great out there.  Almost chilly.  And the run went well to0.  46:20 or thereabouts.  I am trying to make 4 the new 3.  I don’t even know what my plan said to do this week.  I will have to look.

Because of the game and our late arrival back home (is 9:30 late to anyone else?), I didn’t make our overnight oats.  So this morning was a boring, and yet still delicious, protein bar and coffee.  And there were carrots.  There are always carrots but I can’t keep posting those boring pictures.

Turkey burger on a sandwich round with guacamole and veggie straws.  Another wonderful nectarine.

For dinner, we went out.  It was “date night”.  I hate the pressure of date night.  Why do I have to date my own husband?  But it is nice to get out.  I had a Groupon to a NY style deli that sounded good.  I had chicken salad.  I was not impressed.  Michael had a Reuben and said it was great.

Speaking of Groupon, I had one for some cupcakes back in NC (Bows ‘n’ Batter for anyone local).  I didn’t have a chance to use it before we left so I gave it to my good friend J. When she tried to use it, a couple of times, the woman told her that she “was no longer honoring Groupons.”  That they were in some sort of dispute and Groupon owed her money.  But she was more than happy to make my friend some cupcakes at the normal price.  I don’t believe I would have handled it that way if I were a small business owner.   Word of mouth can make or break a small business and you would want as many people to try your product as possible.  Maybe she could have offered her own reduced rate?  Or some sort of deal of her own?  But now what she gets is people like me telling all of you of the bad experience.  Good luck with your cupcake business.  Really.

But my experience with Groupon, however, went much differently.  Upon hearing of our trouble, they immediately credited my account for the price of the Groupon.  So do I believe (or care) about her dispute?  Maybe, but tot so much.

Tuesday: Change in Plans

I just wasn’t feeling like I wanted to run 5 miles this morning.  And since God is my Coach (sorry, sarcasm to Ryan Hall, the moron) I decided to hop on my bike instead.  I still have time to get all of my miles in this week.  And I just don’t want to dread my workouts.

So I jumped on this puppy.

Either way, run or bike, it was a bad idea.  I got caught in the rain and ended up turning around before even making it halfway.  Sidenote: What the HELL is up with all of the rain in Phoenix?  We moved here for better weather.

Now, this turned out to be a plus.  I was out of allergy meds which meant a trip to Walmart to sign my life away for Allegra-D 24.  The pharmacy didn’t open until 9am.  So I worked for a while and then rode my bike back to Walmart and get my meds.  A workout AND an errand done at the same time!

I ROCK!   A little over 9 miles on my bike.

It was another exciting (to me) morning of overnight oats magic.  I made it with vanilla extract (maybe almond next time?), jam and raspberries.  With my usual cup of coffee.

Then there was chicken noodle soup and veggies straws.  Am I the only one that loves veggie straws?

And I had the most AMAZING nectarine. But then I was wanting something sweet and my resistance was low.  So I had some of my proprietary snack mix.

Tonight is ballpark food.  Panda Express for me!  Beer or no beer?  I haven’t decided yet.  The snack mix will be coming along as well.

Strapping the running shoes back on tomorrow.  And, of course, I am changing training plans again.  Back to the Galloway plan that worked well for me last year.
