Happy Thanksgiving and Road ID Offer

We are traveling most of Thanksgiving but I hope  you have (or will have) a good holiday!  What did you eat?

Traveling would not have been my first choice on how to spend Thanksgiving Day, but it was the best we could do.  I can’t wait to spend Friday catching up with our NC friends.

And in honor of Black Friday, Road ID is offering my friends and readers a special deal.  I am a fan of Road ID, especially as I have taken more and more to the trails.  Road ID, depending on the model, provides up to 6 lines of text information in case you should be unable to speak for yourself.  Contact numbers, allergies, etc.  You can choose from wrist, shoe or ankle models.  And even provide yourself an inspirational message.  It is a must for anyone that runs trails, during off-hours, in rural areas, any runner at all.

For the first 20 takers, Road ID is offer $1 off any Road ID order.  The offer is good for the next 30 days.

Happy Thanksgiving and thank you to the great people at Road ID!

Travel Tuesday: Shortcuts

I was very excited yesterday to find a shortcut to Walmart.  I know, I know.  But right now it is the little things.  Learning my way around a new city.

I have been driving in Phoenix for years.  During our many trips here. But living here and finding new ways to places from ‘home” is different.

This is a great product that I bought for Michael from Amazon (click on picture to go to the product page).  I might have to steal it since he has been using the GPS on his phone to find his way around.

We may go to a movie later.  Savages? Or the new Batman?

I ran 3 miles this morning.  Felt ok, now that my sinuses are clearing up.

Featured Product: Jelly Belly Sport Beans

Jelly Belly Sport Beans are geared towards endurance athletes as an alternative to the Chomps, Gu’s and Blocks that are out there.  If you like Jelly Beans, there is nothing NOT to like about these.

The Jelly Belly Sport Beans come in a variety of flavors including lemon/lime, orange, fruit punch and even a variety pack.  The packages are resealable and easy to store in any belt or water bottle pocket.

I enjoy the flavors.  I love that I can eat just a few at a time and store the rest.  And they are easy on the stomach.

Are they really different than regular jelly beans (other than the price)?  You could compare the NI and the answer is that they are probably not that different.   But you can find some great deals on these if you search around.  Race Expo’s usually have them everywhere at a decent price.

Food Friday: Apple Cake

I found this recipe through TasteSpotting.  I dare you not to spend HOURS looking at food on TasteSpotting.

It came together easy enough thanks to my apple corer/peeler/slicer. How did I wait so long before buying one of these?  I feel a product review coming.

The batter is thick and dark and smells like cinnamon.  I left out the nuts and dates ONLY because I didn’t have any in the house.  I don’t think it will ruin the recipe at all.

The smell throughout the house was amazing.  It didn’t slice very well due to my impatience and it still being warm.  It is delicious.  Enjoy!

Featured Product: Nature Valley Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bars

I found these at Costco (Sams has them too) and they sounded too good NOT to try.  And I was not disappointed. How can chocolate and peanut butter together disappoint?

They are dense, but not as dense as some of the other types of protein bars, like Zone Perfect bars.  The flavor is good and the calorie count is not bad (190).  I have been using them as a breakfast/mid morning snack.

It is also handy to just throw one in your gym bag for a post-workout snack.

I will be keeping these around the house.
