Thursday: Anniversary

Today was our wedding anniversary.  15 years.  I can’t believe it.  And still don’t feel the need to fill some non-existent hole with children (sorry, but this a Kidless blog).  Just us is fine.

And because my DH knows me so well, he got me this.  We have loved the Mexican wood carvings since we started seeing them in Cancun.  And Epcot.  Match that with my love of frogs and toads (like these in St Lucia) and there you go.

I had a cranky foot which meant no running.  Not a great mileage week overall.  I did a quick tour on the bike, but I mean it when I say quick.

We are heading up to Vegas for the weekend.  And the “kids” went to camp.  If I could pay pseudo-strangers to lock my kids in a cage for the weekend, I might have some.  But since that would get me arrested, I will stick to the dogs.  They didn’t even say goodbye when I dropped them off.

Wednesday: Uninspiring

There is just not that much to say about Wednesday.  I ran and it was uninspiring.  I wanted to call it short but I kept going and did the whole run.  Saw 4 bunnies (saw 7 when I was on my bike Monday).

Run: 6miles / 1:09:12

The meals were even less inspiring.  Coffee and a protein bar.  Carrots.  An apple.

Turkey burger with guac and veggie sticks.  A nectarine.

Dinner was 1/2 of a Chicken Avocado Cobb salad with no cheese and ranch dressing.  It was GOOD.   And the perfect size.  When I got home from Girls Night Out (also uninspiring to be honest), I had some snack mix.  The company for dinner and RRS was good.

Thurs is our wedding anniversary.  15 years.  I can’t believe it has been that long.  We are heading to Vegas for the weekend. It will be our first time driving by ourselves.  Very exciting.  And I just love to sleep in a car.   I will try to check in at some point!  I am looking forward to sleeping and sitting by the pool.

See, I told you it was uninspiring.

Tuesday: Trouble and Tresses - I miss complaining about every call made by the NFL's regular refs.Today’s run was like running on sand.  It felt like my legs were trying to run through glue.  But I got it done.  And I do believe that we should celebrate the runs that don’t go well even more than the ones that do!  I think the run was impacted by Saturday’s long run and being dehydrated after a salty dinner and not enough water.

Run: 5miles / 57:45

Today was HAIR APPT day.  You girls out there understand that hair appt day is very exciting.  And the rest of you can just take my word for it.  It was just a retouch and a trim, but we did find my new color for next time. So that was exciting.

Breakfast was part of a DD muffin (near the hair place).  And because the hair takes so long, I had a Kind Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan Bar.  When I got home, I had eggs and an english muffin.  Carrots and a peach.

Dinner was a ribeye steak, sweet potato fries, ranch (for dipping) and corn on the cob.

Do we even need to talk about the NFL replacement refs?  Seriously.  If these guys can be SO bad that they get the real officials back on the field, maybe they can go over and try to play hockey…get the hockey season back on track.

Monday: Ass Backwards

Today I had a foot issue that made running a no-g0.  So I hopped on the bike instead.  Gotta do something.  7miles and a trip to the bank.

Bike:  7miles / 42:45

After the bike ride, I spent the morning looking for the Vet records for the dogs.  I know I had them when we drove out here.  Everyone got checkups before we left.  And now I can’t find them.  They can’t go to Camp Bow Wow unless their bordetella is up to date.  So, in a backwards effort, I made an appointment for them at Banfield to get their shots.  Then it dawned on me (see, backwards) to call our Vet back in NC and find out what we did before we left.  Turns out they are up to date on everything and don’t need the bordetella.   They very nicely agreed to fax everything to camp. Now I just need to cancel Banfield, which is perfect because I made it for the same time as Girls Night Out at RRS with my sister.

Breakfast was coffee and a protein bar.  There were carrots (shocker) and a nectarine.

Lunch was a turkey burger with guacamole and veggie straws.

I decided to try something new for dinner.  I wanted something chinese-ish and found a recipe for crockpot Honey Sesame Chicken.  I had everything needed in the house so I thought what the hell.  How bad could it be?  And it gave me time to defrost the chicken since the cook time is 4 hours and not 8.  PERFECT.  I was a little short on the honey so it came out just a tad salty, but otherwise it was good.

I didn’t catch one minute of the Emmy’s.  Who won?

I don’t know how long I am going to be able to resist (Click for link):

Sloth Sunday: BALLS (foot and meat)

Today is Sloth Sunday and started with the usual bevy of chores.  If you can call that sloth.

And then I found a recipe on Pinterest that I just had to find. And since I was going to my sister’s to watch Cardinals football, it was the perfect chance.  The site called them meatball bubble biscuits.  I can them Meatball Marinara Biscuits.  Just call them little balls of awesomeness.  And EASY.  These will become a must-have at any sports-viewing gathering.

And I finally dipped into the daiquiris.  YUM.  Definitely need more rum next time.  But these are good enough for now.

I need to figure out how to fit my miles into only 4 days this week.  Not sure a long run is appropriate given the half marathon is in 2 weeks.  And can I really get through the half marathon in one piece?  Yes, of course.  But will it be any fun, or at least educational?  Educational maybe.  On pace, fluids, nutrition, training progress.  Still on the fence about downgrading to the 5k though.

It is official.  My site has been retweeted by Childfree Online.  Let’s see what that does for traffic (and content).
