Travel Tuesday: Pet Friendly Hotels

As we planned our recent trek across the country, we knew roughly where we wanted to stop each night.  Memphis wasn’t quite far enough so Little Rock was the plan.  And we couldn’t quite make it to Albuquerque, so Amarillo was it.  Then it was time to find hotels that would accept the pets.

Through a little digging on Yahoo!, I came up with Residence Inn by Marriott.  There was a pet friendly location right off the highway in Little Rock and then it became my mission to find one in Amarillo.  ACCOMPLISHED!

I had been worried about the hotel rooms after hearing horror stories of cats getting into walls and box springs.  So I made sure to check each room before we ever brought the gang in.  What a treat!  There was nothing left to chance.  The underneath of the beds and cabinets were sealed, bathrooms had no holes around pipes, nothing that could tempt a cat that wanted to hide.

They had refridgerators and microwaves, dishes and glassware.  Anything you could have needed.  And a separate bedroom and living area, in case we needed to segregate anyone. There was happy hour (we passed) and free breakfast (I grabbed a banana).

Now, each location had stated that there would be a ‘non-refundable pet fee.”  No problem.  It would be worth the price.  Little Rock never charged me the fee and Amarillo charged me only half what I thought it would be.  BONUS!

If you need to plan a hotel stay with your pets, I highly recommend this chain to anyone.  Not all of them are pet-friendly, but if you can find one that is where you need to stay, I would grab it.

About nfoste2245

I am approaching 40 and have been married since my early 20's. I have become more than a little frustrated with having to answer incredibly personal questions about my choice to not have children. It is apparently taboo to talk about religion and politics, but confronting me about my reproductive choices is fair game. It is not a choice I made alone, quickly or lightly. My husband and I made it together. I am not "withholding" children or grandchildren from anyone. There is an astonishing lack of understanding over the idea that it is an actual choice, to have a child or not. There is also an amazing lack of support, discussion and resources for those like me, that have made the choice. This is not a blog for kid-haters, or mocking people for having kids. It is a place where we can talk about living full lives, without kids, and without guilt.
