Food Friday: Crack Bark (Salted Chocolate Pretzel Toffee)

I found this recipe at Ezra Pound Cake and you can find it here.  How can you not want to try something that combines pretzels, chocolate, salt and toffee.  And it looked (and read) so incredibly easy.  The only ingredient I was missing was pretzels and it actually took me a few days to get around to the store and get some.

You start by melting butter and brown sugar together.  Easy.  Then you pour that over crumbled pretzels in the bottom of a jelly roll pan.

Bake for 5 minutes.  Not complicated.  Then sprinkle on chocolate chips and let them melt for a few minutes.  Spread the chocolate around and sprinkle on some sea salt.  Anyone lost yet?  Throw it in the fridge to cool.  And break it into pieces.

I have been storing this in the fridge and it is unbelievably, ridiculously good.  I can hardly believe there is any left.  It is a testament to my will power.

About nfoste2245

I am approaching 40 and have been married since my early 20's. I have become more than a little frustrated with having to answer incredibly personal questions about my choice to not have children. It is apparently taboo to talk about religion and politics, but confronting me about my reproductive choices is fair game. It is not a choice I made alone, quickly or lightly. My husband and I made it together. I am not "withholding" children or grandchildren from anyone. There is an astonishing lack of understanding over the idea that it is an actual choice, to have a child or not. There is also an amazing lack of support, discussion and resources for those like me, that have made the choice. This is not a blog for kid-haters, or mocking people for having kids. It is a place where we can talk about living full lives, without kids, and without guilt.

  2. okay, you’re evil for posting this! I hate you because of course I’m going to try this.

  3. Dear lord, I cannot think of anything I want more than crack bark right now….it’s already got its claws into me. Pretty soon, I’ll be selling my house and family for a taste of that sweet, sweet goodness.
