Travel Tuesday: Traveling with Pets

We are T-6 days to our beach vacation.  Vacation?  Well, 5 days of a vacation.  One day of a race (for me) and then driving back.  This is the FIRST time we will be traveling WITH our dogs. And it is making me a bit nervous.  Not that they will destroy our rental house or anything like that.  I am more nervous about the 5-6 hours in the car.

Solo does just fine in the car.  He eventually gets bored of looking out the windows and lays down.  Not Annabelle.  She won’t even sit.  On all fours the whole time.  From window to window.  Head on your shoulder.  Breath in your face.  Drool in your lap.

The ASPCA website has some good tips here.  And some of them I have already been doing.  Like taking them for more rides, etc.  Most likely, they will ride with Michael and I will carry all of the supplies and stuff in my car.

So today’s travel post is to ask: Do you travel with your dog?  And any tips for long car rides and how to get the dogs to settle down?

About nfoste2245

I am approaching 40 and have been married since my early 20's. I have become more than a little frustrated with having to answer incredibly personal questions about my choice to not have children. It is apparently taboo to talk about religion and politics, but confronting me about my reproductive choices is fair game. It is not a choice I made alone, quickly or lightly. My husband and I made it together. I am not "withholding" children or grandchildren from anyone. There is an astonishing lack of understanding over the idea that it is an actual choice, to have a child or not. There is also an amazing lack of support, discussion and resources for those like me, that have made the choice. This is not a blog for kid-haters, or mocking people for having kids. It is a place where we can talk about living full lives, without kids, and without guilt.
